Software sees what is indexed. We see what really happens.
In today’s landscape, protecting brands and intellectual property is a strategic priority, not only for consumer or fashion companies, but for any business working with distinctive products, content, technology or services. However, most IP monitoring solutions on the market rely exclusively on automated engines that analyze only indexed and publicly accessible sources.
Global Risk Intelligence’s Brand Protection and IP Intelligence service goes beyond these limitations: it combines advanced technologies and experienced human analysts to identify and track up to 90% more infringements than standard software tools. We work to ensure real and proactive protection, identifying unlawful uses, counterfeiting, cybersquatting, phishing, plagiarism, unauthorized sales and any form of abuse that could threaten your company’s identity and value.
We operate globally, in local languages and across digital and physical channels often overlooked by automated software: the dark web, parallel marketplaces, smaller social media platforms, alternative app stores, trade fairs and unofficial commercial networks. Our analysts investigate in depth, trace patterns, identify multiple sources and produce reports that can be used for legal, injunctive or strategic action.
What we monitor and combat
- Counterfeit products, packaging and promotional materials
- Cloned websites and unlawful use of similar domains (typosquatting)
- Fake social media profiles, deceptive pages and unauthorized online sales
- Alternative marketplaces and the deep/dark web
- Unlawful downloading and distribution of software, files and proprietary content
- Commercial phishing and fraudulent use of the brand in email campaigns
- Reuse of trademarks or company names in foreign jurisdictions
- Plagiarism of presentations, graphic trademarks, slogans and names
- Misappropriation of registered or registrable intellectual property
How we work
Our findings are documented, geolocated and contextualized. Reports are structured for use in court or as the basis for rapid enforcement action.
Phase 1:
IP & Digital Asset Mapping – we identify the properties to protect
Phase 2:
Active multichannel monitoring – across thousands of sources, on the web (Surface and Deep Web) and off the web
Phase 3:
Human validation of infringements – we reduce false positives
Phase 4:
Reports with evidentiary documentation – for legal, DMCA, customs or injunctive action
Phase 5:
Strategic legal or investigative support – including in collaboration with the client’s IP lawyers
When to activate the service
When launching a new brand or product
To monitor the use of the brand abroad (including on local registries and marketplaces)
When there are fraudulent campaigns or sales of suspicious products
When recurring infringements by former partners, distributors or competitors are suspected
To initiate legal or customs action with solid evidence
In combination with broader strategic activities (e.g. rebranding, due diligence, IP audits)
Why we are different... and better than software
Software works on what is visible. We also find what is hidden
Our sources cover alternative channels, non-indexed languages and closed environments
Human analysis reduces false positives and identifies hidden patterns
Our evidence is immediately actionable (legally, reputationally, strategically)
We also operate in countries without centralized digital registries
Case Study: Brand Protection and IP Intelligence
A well-known Italian industrial group, whose name was being used unlawfully by foreign sellers, asked for our assistance. The software in use had detected nothing. In less than two weeks, GRI mapped 14 cloned websites, 9 fake social media profiles and a parallel unauthorized sales network in two non-EU countries. The client’s lawyers were able to take successful action based on our evidentiary material.
